THE PROJECT

 

This Grundtvig Learning Partnership Project "A Journey into History through the Great European Cities" aims to raise people’s awareness of a past shared, thus, forge a sense of unity among different peoples of Europe, increase mutual understanding and tolerance.

The target group consists of adult learners, adult education institutions, local and regional community.

The main objective is to involve learners in an interactive learning environment and motivate them to learn about the history of partner countries and that of their own. Thus, they can see our common past shows how we can co-exist despite the diversities.

Activities include:

·        Research into the history of towns, in the mean time, also into historical events that have  left their imprint on these towns and historical integration efforts.

·        Ex-ante needs assessment regarding learning methods and learners’ requirements via informal surveys, interviews

·        Development and elaboration of a learning modul

·        Creating Leaflets, webpage, Info-material, CD etc. for dissemination of the project

·        Brochure of ‘good practices’ and outcomes

·        Final conference / event

Objectives of the project are:

·        To raise the awareness of the learners how development in the cities studied in this project has influenced European development and culture.

·        To help learners experience an enhanced cultural awareness both among the participating countries and in their own country. 

The journey to history started with finding the basic information about the most important historical events which influenced the development of the nation and its territory. In the project period August 2009 - July 2011

will be "discovered" by the project partners in the mirror of time.
